My Jackson Five!

The weather did not want to cooperate on picture day:

But we persevered and found a few of the dry/non-windy places at the Portage River Walk and had a ton of fun! This family is always up for pretty much anything and always brings a great creative mind to the table! :)

But what fun is a windy day if you can't get a little silly? :)

*no children or family members were harmed in the making of this photo.*

Lisa and John's Wedding!

Talk about a great day for a wedding! Lisa and John could not have asked for better weather for their special day. It started with all the ladies getting ready at the Matron of Honor's house and ended at the lovely Concordia Wishing Well Banquet Hall. I had a great time capturing all the wonderful moments of their very special day.

The pictures are done and here for your viewing:

All you have to do is enter in your email address. Yes, twice. It's just to verify the email address.

I hope you enjoy the images as much as I did taking them.

Multi-generation Family Photo

I absolutely LOVE when families figure out all the scheduling and coordinating and make a huge family photo come together! Most of the time this happens at weddings and funerals, but when it happens outside of those events - it is a delight!

Allow me to introduce this wonderful family - A mom and dad with three children and four grandchildren. They all are super adorable!

While this next image isn't the textbook definition of 'perfect', it is the perfect representation of the grandchildren's ages and personality, sibling relationships, and the impending toddler melt-down. It shows real emotion and life, and that, I feel, has the power to soundly trump a 'perfect' photo. :-) (I also have to give 'grandpa' some major props for keeping the little guy camera facing!)

I would like to applaud the fact that in addition to all the organizing that went into this photoshoot, one of the family members made and brought props! Love it!

Another photography love of mine is showing families and children growing. I had the pleasure and honor of doing this couple's maternity sitting in the spring,
and now they have a beautiful baby girl!

Family Fun!

Mike, Audrey, and Violet were a blast to work with. Super fun and tons of great energy and photo-taking enthusiasm. We all had a bunch of ideas and were able to get everything! (You know it's going to be fun when the family starts with a super adorable, traditional family pose like this:

that leads to a sweet and tender father/daughter moment:

and then a 'mommy and me' hug:

and ends with a romantic comedy style mom and dad pose!

South Haven Christian School Grandparents' Day!

Grandparents' (and Special People) Day hold so many wonderful childhood memories for me. I was able, over the course of several years, to take both sets of grandparents and even an aunt or two to school. It was always so much fun - especially watching them try to fold themselves down into the teeny tiny classroom chairs. So naturally, when I was asked to do the pictures for SHCS's Grandparents' Day, I jumped at the opportunity.

The day started with the students and their special people in their classrooms and a special chapel/program. While that was going on, some wonderful school employees and volunteers were setting up an amazing ice cream social in the school gym.

And while they were setting up their treats, I was getting my own set-up organized.

Of course, I had to test my lighting, and two very lovely ladies were more than happy to step in as models. :)

Now the moment you've all been waiting for: the parade of adorable, that is, all the kiddos and their grandparents, great-grandparents, fill-in grandparents, and their special people!

Below is an example of the gold embossing in the script font. There is also a block font.

And for those of you who have a keen eye, at the bottom of this picture is a graduation open house postcard announcement I designed for this young lady. I can pretty much design any type of announcement you would like. There are some more examples on my Facebook page.
